World Diabetes Day Get Involved and show your support

World Diabetes Day (WDD) happens every year on November 14th. This date marks the birthday of Fredrick Banting who discovered insulin, along with Charles Best, in 1921. It was initially started in 1991 by the International Diabetes Federation and the World Health Organisation to try to combat the rise of diabetes worldwide. The passing of the United Nations WDD resolution in December 2006 made WDD an official UN World Health Day. The UN marked the day for the first time in 2007. The focus for WDD from 2009 to 2013 is "Diabetes Education and Prevention". The aim is to spread the awareness of the disease and go get people involved in working towards prevention. Things you can do to show your support To find out more about WDD please visit their website. You will find plenty of activities and ideas to get involved with to help the campaign. If you have anything planned for the day get in touch and let us know so we can list your activity or event on the site.
